Welcome to St John’s Keiraville Anglican Church
As part of the Gwynneville and Keiraville communities St John’s has a desire to see Jesus Christ proclaimed as Lord and Saviour amongst our communities and throughout the world.
Our desire is “to present every person mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).
Keiraville Anglican church is more than a building, an organization, or a Sunday.
We are a group of people who believe the words of the bible are true, a population of diverse individuals united by a common relationship with Jesus Christ. We strive to worship Christ with every aspect of our lives, as we enjoy our city and its culture, as we laugh and eat good food with friends, and as we serve each other, our neighbours, and our Lord Jesus.
In our city of Wollongong there is a marketplace of ideas, a vibrant arts community, and a meeting of many cultures. We believe the words of the bible are good news for each member of our diverse community.
Paul was one of the very first people who changed his mind about Jesus. He decided Jesus really was the Son of God who had lived among us and then died with his hands outstretched to the sky but them conquered death unlike any man who had gone before him. Paul determined to spend the rest of his days telling others about what he knew about Jesus. These are his words to a group of people in 1st century Athens:
So I want to tell you about him. This God made the world and everything in it. He is Lord of heaven and earth, and he doesn’t live in temples built by human hands. He doesn’t need help from anyone. He gives life, breath, and everything else to all people. From one person God made all nations who live on earth, and he decided when and where every nation would be.
God has done all this, so that we will look for him and reach out and find him. He isn’t far from any of us, and he gives us the power to live, to move, and to be who we are. “We are his children,” just
as some of your poets have said.
Since we are God’s children, we must not think that he is like an idol made out of gold or silver or stone. He isn’t like anything that humans have thought up and made. In the past, God forgave all this because people did not know what they were doing. But now he says that everyone everywhere must turn to him. He has set a day when he will judge the world’s people with fairness. And he has chosen the man Jesus to do the judging for him. God has given proof of this to all of us by raising Jesus from death. (Acts 17:23-31)
2000 years on this message is still being told all over the world and in Wollongong at Keiraville Anglican Church we will faithfully tell you the same news.
And Jesus said: If you have ears: pay attention!
